課程概述

本課程將檢視影響個人、家庭、與社區等層次的健康與健康行為的重要因素,包括社會、文化、生物、行為、與環境因素等,尤其是在偏遠、資源不足的地區。本課程亦將討論促進社區與群體健康的主要社會/行為介入與社會政策,包括它們的設計、執行,與評估,並考量偏遠地區的特殊需求與處境。我們將特別關注健康狀況的文化、社會經濟、居住,與環境差異,尤其是在雲林縣第六套輕油裂解廠(簡稱六輕)的鄰近區域,台大公衛的研究團隊已在當地建立空氣污染與健康的監測系統,並與在地政府和非政府組織有合作關係。本課程將包括課堂演講、討論,與田野觀察和訪視(視情況對交通與住宿提供部分補助),以幫助同學深入了解此議題,並發展出初步的偏遠社區健康保護與促進提案。
This course will consist of a survey of the major social, cultural, bio-behavioral, and environmental determinants of health and health behavior among individuals, families, neighborhoods, particularly in remote, disadvantaged areas. The course also will address the design, implementation, and evaluation of leading social and behavioral interventions and social policies designed to improve community and population health, taking into considerations the special needs and situations of remote communities. Special attention will be given to cultural, socioeconomic, residential, and environmental patterns of health, particularly in the neighboring areas of the No. 6 Naphtha Cracking Complex (六輕) in Yunlin County, where a research team from College of Public Health has already established a monitoring system for air pollution and its health effect, as well as local networks with governmental and non-governmental partners. This course will include lectures, discussions, and community visits (with some supports from the College of Public Health) to help the students develop a better understanding of the subject and their own seed proposals to protect and promote health in remote communities.

本課程在協助同學發展:
1. 對社區中健康與健康行為之決定因素的進一步了解,尤其是在偏遠地區;
2. 藉由田野訪視,對社區居民健康需求與觀點有深入了解;
3. 對於促進社區健康之介入的設計、執行與評估的基礎知識。
This course is aimed to help students develop
1. A better understanding of the determinants of health and health behavior in community settings, particularly in remote areas;
2. A deep understanding of residents’ needs and perspectives for health thru field trips to the communities;
3. Basic knowledge regarding approaches to designing, implementing, and evaluating interventions to improve community health. 
課程要求
1. 對於課程主題有熱誠,參與課堂授課與討論,課前閱讀指定文章,完成作業,並能參與兩次兩天一夜的田野訪視(六輕鄰近地區),分組完成期末健康促進計畫提案。
2. 課程分成六部分,在2017/7/25-2017/8/11三週內,用十天完成,包括:1) (2017/7/25-27) 課堂授課:包括社區健康、健康促進,與六輕鄰近地區健康議題的介紹;2) (2017/7/28-29) 第一次兩天一夜的田野訪視:觀察六輕鄰近社區,與當地居民互動,以及一場與當地環保人士與關心健康議題之居民的座談,以幫助同學選定特定議題,發展健康促進提案的想法;3) (2017/8/1) 課堂授課與小組討論:包括討論訪視心得,與設定第二次田野訪視的重點;4) (2017/8/4-5) 第二次兩天一夜的田野訪視:讓同學深入特定健康議題發展健康促進方案;5) (2017/8/8) 半天的小組討論,幫助同學完成期末提案;6) (2017/8/11) 小組期末報告,呈現健康促進提案,與其它同學與授課老師共同討論。
3. 不需已修社區或群體健康相關課程。
1. The students are expected to be enthusiastic about learning the subject and participating in lecture and discussion sections. They need to read assigned materials prior to class, complete homework assignments, be prepared to participate in two 2-day visits to the neighboring areas of the No. 6 Naphtha Cracking Complex (六輕) in Yunlin County, and develop their own term project proposals in groups.
2. The course will include six parts in ten days between 2017/7/25-2017/8/11: (1) (2017/7/25-27) introductory and special lectures, covering an introduction to community health and health promotion and an overview of health and social issues in the field study region; (2) (2017/7/28-29) the first two-day field visit that includes the observations of the community setting and opportunities of interacting with local residents, as well as a special seminar attended by local health advocates, to help the students focus on specific health issues and develop ideas about term project proposal to promote community health; (3) (2017/8/1) lectures and group discussions to decide the focus for each group in the second field trip; (4) (2017/8/4-5) the second two-day field visit that allows students opportunities to focus on specific health issues when developing their projects; (5) (2017/8/8) group discussion to help students finalize their term project proposals; and (6) (2017/8/11) term project presentations followed by group discussions and commentaries from teaching faculties.
3. No prior knowledge about community or population health is required.
